Workshop held on-site, presented by SIKA. Mara personnel, general contractors and project architect in attendance for training specific to upcoming project at Penn State / Abington.

The 1 day event was in preparation for structural reinforcement that will take place at the Woodland building at
Penn State Abington’s campus. Somewhat of a refresher course for many, the workshop allowed everyonethe ability to actually work
with the material at handand explore new applications and techniques. The workshop was in preparation for phase II of a multi-faceted
strategy to preserve campus building integrity.

Project manager Mike DellaVecchio commented, “ I thought the combination of classroom/hands-on training helped our crews brush up on their familiarity with the process. We have used CFRP and GFRP in the past, it’s a very technical procedure and the application of material is quite structured.

The project will involve Strengthening and reinforcing Beams and other facade structures utilizing Carbon Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Plates. This process will increase stability and strength and endure for years to come.”
